Oatmeal Cookies
As I mentioned at the end of the blog for yesterday, I was up at 3:30 this morning.  Tired??  Yes!  Happy?  Yes!  Since I woke at 3:30 I got up and started baking.  Our youngest grandson had requested that I bring dessert to go with the lunch today.
What is left of my brownie tonight
First I baked the World's Greatest Brownies, followed by Vanishing Oatmeal Cookies.  Ron explained to our class this morning that he was wakened at 4:00 this morning to the sound of someone trying to break in our side door to the house.  He got up to check, only to find me in the kitchen baking, making noise; not a burglar.  I did not have on my Cochlear sound processor, so I didn't know now loud I was being.  I though I was being very quiet.  I didn't hear a sound.  He just went back to bed without saying anything.  Oops!  Maybe he did and I didn't hear him.  Hmmm?

After I baked the brownies, I started the oatmeal cookies.  By the time they were all finished, it was time for me to take my shower and start getting ready for church.  We were early for a change.  We have been getting there right at time to start lately.  Class was great with only a very few absent.  I left early to pick Mom up for church.  She looked great but was a little rushed and I was concerned about her, but she did fine once she caught her breath.
Our grandson got a new haircut!
After church Barb's sister brought two of our grandchildren who had spent the night with her, so we could take the children back to their new home when we went up for lunch today.  It is a long way to go for lunch, but the bonus is getting to spend time with the family.  Barb fixed a great stir-fry dish for lunch and we all had a good time "catching up" on news.
Cinderella costume.  Is it appropriate that she is bare-footed?
We had a bag of costumes that a friend of Barb's had brought to our office this past week for the youngest granddaughter.  The oldest granddaughter had a stack of dress up clothes that her mom found as she unpacked.  Oh, my, that girl looked grown up in those outfits.  They put on a fashion show for us.

Then after touring the house to see what had been done since our last visit, Barb and I spent a long time outside, sitting on the back patio, watching the birds and watching the kittens take interest in them.  NOT good!

Kitten checking the fig bush for birds
There was a nice breeze, so the heat didn't bother us too much.  It was lovely out there with the birds all singing and some fussing at us.  There were so many that stopped by but didn't pose for a photo.  There were Green Jays, Hummingbirds, Great Kiskadees, Mockingbirds, Sparrows, Goldfinches, a Thrasher, Grackles, Doves, and probably others.  The two kittens started watching the fig tree/bush that the Goldfinches were in.  As the kittens watched the bush, the Goldfinches drank water from the kittens bowl.
It was 7:00 before we left to come home.  It was a wonderful day.  When we got to the  house, Ron got out and I went to my mom's house to check on her.  She was feeling better than she had in the morning and had been able to go to a service at the church tonight.  I got home from her house about 10:00 and after chatting with Ron, I sat down to do this blog.

It is time for bed.  20 hours of being up is about enough.

  2. This is Ron:
It was a couple of seconds of terror as I formulated a defensive plan while looking for the phone to call reinforcements. Then I realized the sounds were too high pitched to be a break in attempt. It could only be a cookie sheet! Sure enough, it was her - the woman I married 50+ years ago baking cookies for my grandson at 4:00AM! What is not to love about a woman like that? Ok, reason 18,037 that I married her. I seems that I find a new reason every day or so, and we have been married around 18,037 days.
