Long Day With a Lot to Do
February 2, 2016

My activity in the yard early this morning
scared this guy and he flew across the resaca.

I had to get up early so I could make it to the doctor's office by 8:30 for the results of my blood work which was done last week.  After my shower, I went outside to fill the feeders and ponds.  There were lots of birds still in the trees from over night.  Flowers were blooming and it was a nice morning.  The winds were still strong.
Cormorant - each evening, I think there are about
75 of these birds in the trees in our yard and close by.

Before going back in the house, I got my camera and took a few shots of the lovely flowers and birds.  There were several hibiscus plants that were in full bloom.  I loved being out in the yard, but needed to get ready to leave.

At the doctor's office, the nurse practitioner saw me quickly, and said all my blood work was perfect.  After we discussed some minor medication changes, she said to come back in 3 months.  That was good news.  While the nurse practitioner was in the exam room with me, I asked her to wear the wireless mini mic to my Cochlear Implant and she did so very willingly.  I could hear every word she spoke.  I don't recall having to ask her to repeat anything.  That little device is a jewel!

At our office, Ron stayed busy with the same job as yesterday.  I waited on most of the customers and did some more of the end of the month reports.  We stayed pretty busy during the morning and through the lunch hour.  The afternoon was slower and I was able to get more of my work done.

Ron told me about 3:30 that I could leave since I was having quilting that evening at our house.  I was in the middle of some work and so it was a little while before I was ready to leave.  Once at the house, I loaded the dishwasher and started it, and then worked in the sewing room.  I need to do some good cleaning in there sometime soon.

Before the quilters came, I was out in the front yard watching the sunset.  The clouds were breaking up and I loved the glow from the setting sun on the clouds.

At quilting, we had a good bunch.  Mom was not feeling good so she didn't come, but the group picked up Carmen and she continued working on her quilt.  I got 3 more small blocks done for the one I am currently working on and got in some good visiting.

In our quilt group we celebrate birthdays and since mine is coming soon, they had brought gifts for me.  There were some quilting supplies, some organizational things, a journal and some pens, a lovely cup with bird photos on it, and a beautiful day lily plant.  Each gift was thoughtfully chosen and I will enjoy using each one.

The group sang Happy Birthday to me and I could discern the melody.  I am getting better on picking out the melody in the music that I know but still cannot learn a new song just by hearing it.  I might be able to do it if I had the score for the music in front of me, but not by just listening to it.

It was a good day and I continue to be helped by the constantly improving technology developed by Cochlear.  I am so thankful for their continued support to Cochlear patients.   It is not something you get and that is the end of your connection with them, rather the keep seeking better ways to help the patients.
